Camp Activities
Athletics:
Our high quality athletics staff provides just the right mix of formal instruction and relaxed play. All of our campers have a chance to be involved, try their best, improve their skills, and feel good about their involvement in sports. Throughout the summer, our campers have the option of participating in sports within camp and also to compete against other camps. We encourage participation and want all of our campers to experience healthy competition. Our goal is to promote involvement, teamwork, sportsmanship, spirit and fun.
Outdoor
Adventure:
Our Adventure Program provides new and exciting opportunities while also offering all of the traditional outdoor experiences, such as campfires, hiking and overnight trips. Our campers gain confidence and develop great skills through use of our climbing wall and zip-line. They challenge themselves as individuals and they further strengthen relationships as campers and staff, while supporting each other through many low and high ropes elements. These team building skills become invaluable while sailing our 27 ft sailboat, to our campsite on an island in the middle of Lake George. Lake George, just five miles from camp, is 36 miles long and is a perfect setting for both novice and expert sailors to have the opportunity to race in a regatta. Campers also have the opportunity to mountain bike, which is just one more exciting way that they further discover the outdoors.
The
Arts:
Our visual and performing arts program gives campers a chance to experience theater, dance, music and art. Whether participating in one of our musical performances, putting on a skit for a talent show, creating a project in the art studio or honing skills in dance, Camp Walden gives each child a chance to express him or herself artistically. For 2006, Camp Walden is building a brand new 4000 sq ft Arts & Crafts and hobby center which will contain programs such as ceramics, painting, drawing, jewelry, beads, models, rockets, candle making, and wood working.
Waterfront:
Camp Walden is located on Trout Lake, a 3 mile long pristine mountain lake, large enough to accommodate waterskiing and all of our summer waterfront activities. Trout Lake is shallow enough so that it gets pleasantly warm in the summer and is perfect for swimming and boating. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provide special attention to improving skills with the main emphasis on safety. In addition to swimming, our fabulous lakefront activities include sailing, canoeing, row-boating, kayaking, paddle-boating, water-skiing, knee-boarding, tubing, wakeboarding and banana boating. With our four new power boats, campers have the opportunity to ski or board practically every day, either during their regularly schedule activity or as a choice activity. While at the lake, our campers also enjoy the water trampoline, and BLOB!
Camp
Walden also offers a swimming pool as another opportunity for cooling
off and gaining instruction. At Camp Walden there are plenty of
opportunities for water fun. In
addition to our exciting lake activities, the waterfront area also
provides opportunities for campers to play beach volleyball and
tetherball.
Special
Events:
Combined with our regular programming, Walden campers enjoy many special events consisting of overnights, and exciting evening activities. One day per week we have a late special breakfast and we enjoy programs such as Carnival Day, The Amazing Race, and other exciting events.

We also have special out of camp trips, to water parks, white water rafting, and Six Flags Great Escape. Other camp highlights include Tribals and Color War, where the campers get to enjoy friendly competition, incredible traditions and exciting spirit.
